What to Consider When Upgrading Your Bathroom

For those who have a big family, you probably know that the most popular room in the whole house is the bathroom. On average, many people spend nearly an hour in the bathroom every single day. If you reside with many people, you know that the bathroom is apparently always occupied. The irony is usually that the most hectic room in your house is the smallest room. But well before you select how you want to remodel your bathroom, here are some things you need to keep in mind.

The first thing is usually to put in a shower stall as opposed to a bathtub. It is usually not so common that folks take a bath in the bathtub. If you have little children however, a bathtub is most likely your best option. For those who have youngsters that are more than 12 years of age, then a shower is better. If you put in a shower stall instead of a bathtub, you’ll have more room in the bathroom. But if your bathroom is pretty small to begin with, get ready to enjoy the extra space.

If you plan to replace the basin in your bathroom, select one in lighter colors. Dark colored sinks are not recommended because water spots, hard water stains and soap scum really shows. You might find yourself washing your sink many times each day. Therefore, be sure to choose a light color for your sink.

If you want to add color to the bathroom by adding colored components, be sure that you actually have the fixtures before you start to remodel. Finding fixtures in different colors is usually time consuming and usually will have to be ordered. However, if you don’t need fancy fixtures, just get the white or off white ones. There are plenty of your common white fixtures in any home design center. This can be good in the event you end up needing to replace them later on.

Whenever you add tile on your new shower stall, remember that you may need to wait a few days so that the glue can dry. While your bathroom may take a week to complete, you will probably still need to wait a few more days for the tile to dry. Additionally, a standard stall is a lot easier to set up than one that requires tiles.

Of course, one important thing is to make sure that you have a bathroom to use when your real bathroom is being renovated.
