Greening Industry

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced. The very technologies that have long made us the dominant species on the planet are turning the entire planet against us. There is no one person, one single industry or nation that we can point to and say: “This is the cause of all the problems.” We are all contributing to it in our own way. It’s going to take a coordinated effort across the whole planet to reverse climate change. Many industries are already stepping up to the challenge.

Energy

More and more, the energy sector is turning away from the fossil fuels that play such a large role in climate change. It begins with diversifying from coal, crude oil and natural gas into the solar, geothermal, hydroelectric and wind energy industry, but there’s a long way to go yet.

Transportation

Transportation is tied in with the energy industry, and just like the energy industry, a steady shift has already begun. First, hybrid cars hit the streets, then become commonplace, and eventually, fully electric cars start to take over. Pretty soon it’s possible to imagine cities without any smog at all from all those gas-powered engines.

Food Production

While transportation and energy also plays an important role in food production, the food industry has its own challenges to face. Deforestation compounds the challenges of global warming, and livestock contribute their own greenhouse gases in the form of methane.

The battle against climate change is one that we will likely be fighting for years to come. It will take all of us working together to stop the progression of climate change in its tracks, and it will take all of us working together to turn back climate change and undo the damage that has already been done. The good news is that there is nothing we cannot do when we work together.
