Learning a second language has many benefits and is a tremendous idea. In the U.S., Spanish is nearly as commonplace as English. Think about it: how many times are English messages repeated in Spanish? That’s one reason why it’s a good idea to learn Spanish. Of course, very many people have a tough time tackling a second language. If you have trouble learning languages, here are a few tips to help you out:
When you speak a new language, you want to be understood, which is why you first want to have a Spanish accent or “tongue.” The proof of how well you know a language is in how you sound speaking it, not how well you know the rules of grammar. Practice speaking by reading out loud from Spanish publications or novels. In addition to reading from Spanish books or newspapers, you can also listen to conversations you hear in Spanish and repeat sentences to yourself. This will help you learn how to use the correct inflections and how to string the words together with the right intention and tone. You will also find that it’s actually quite enjoyable to practice speaking and reading in a foreign language. Think of how it felt to learn songs when you were a child; this can be similar.
Take a course. Many people feel intimidated to learn a language along side others. In a course it’s standard practice to talk in the language while you’re learning. Lots of people find this intimidating.
However, it is highly recommended to try and do it no matter what mistakes you make. That’s the best way to learn because everyone else is learning, too! You can stumble over the words together! It will certainly be less intimidating than trying out your new language with a local who might not be so forgiving when you use a word or tense incorrectly.
Surround your self in your new language.
Are you close-by any area where the spoken language is mainly Spanish? An excellent way to learn is by listening to a fluent conversation between two people. You might also find that people in these neighborhoods are happy to help new speakers learn how to properly communicate. You’ll get practice using your new language the way it is meant to be spoken without having to travel far to do so! There’s really no reason to go through a lot of frustration when learning Spanish. It’s so easy to find hints and tools to help you with the learning. One great key to learning any language – an open mind. You’ll soak-up the information a lot easier if your mind is open to it. And this… the more you try to make Spanish sound like English, the harder it will be for you.
