An Introduction to TPO/FPO waterproofing membrane

TPO waterproofing membraneTPO, abbreviation for Thermoplastic Polyolefin, is the popular name in American market. Similarly, FPO is another name in European market, as abbreviation for Flexible Polyolefin.

Generally TPO/FPO is compound of PP (polypropylen)  and EPR (ethylene propylene rubber)or EPDM, which integrate PP’s weldability and rubber’s flexibility and anti-chemical property, belonging sort of Polyolefin.

Composite

In general, TPO/FPO membranes are being marketed as a product that combines the properties of EPDM and PVC without the associated drawbacks that the latter two materials have. In other words, they are supposed to be as UV-resistant and as heat resistant as EPDM, and as heat-weldable as PVC.
