Thoroughly revised and updated, the third edition of Construction Materials continues to provide a comprehensive coverage of the main construction materials for undergraduate students of civil engineering and construction related courses. It creates an understanding of materials and how they perform through a knowledge of their chemical and physical structure, leading to an ability to judge their behavior in service and construction. With its wealth of illustrations and reader-friendly writing style and layout this book is ideal for both the student and the practicing engineer.
Summary: Good all round text Rating: 5
I teach a materials science course to Civil Engineering students and have had a hard time finding a book that covers the material science of our industry. This does so in a very complete and technically detailed way while remaining readable and affordable. As a textbook it lacks question and assignment sets, but otherwise it is great - highly recommend it.
